Description
Statins are a class of lipid-lowering medications important for preventing heart attack and stroke. Best practice guidelines are highly effective but provider adherence is poor, especially among the veteran population. We developed, tested, and deployed an electronic decision support tool within the West Haven VA with the goal of improving guideline-appropriate prescribing of statins.
Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: Participants will gain knowledge regarding the implementation of best practice guidelines within the framework of an electronic decision support tool. Topics will include nuances to determining the appropriate patient population to target, best practices for CDS tools, and the metrics used for measuring the effects of the intervention.
