Description

This workshop will introduce attendees to the concept of human-centered design and common methods employed in usability testing of health information technology (IT).

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: Outcomes-Based Learning Objectives:

After attending this workshop, participants will
-Understand why human-centered design is important.
-Be able to describe how common health IT solutions are not designed to be easy to use by providers and patients.
-Be familiar with the literature, describing how usability testing improves adoption of health IT.
-Be able to conduct “Think Aloud”, “Near-Live” and Live usability testing at their home institutions.
-Understand key methods to help with research, practice improvement, and patient care.
