Description
Background: The burden of trauma has significantly shifted from fatal to non-fatal injuries. There is a need to capture external causes of non-fatal injuries across two coding systems. Results: The text-search algorithm identified and associated 5,694 injury narratives. Discussion: The capture and analysis of the abstractors' coding practices was improved. Conclusion: The design provided a framework for standardizing unstructured data and improving quality control.
Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: The audience will be introduced to an innovative solution to standardizing data between two injury classification systems.
