Description
Medical providers are faced with increasing burdens of documentation, and the Information Systems used for these reports are often not optimized for efficient provider workflow. Although many opportunities for optimization often exist within the hospital information infrastructure, these functions can be underutilized if the medical team is not aware of the functions available to the Information Systems (IS) team, and the IS team is not aware of the workflow of the medical team. To illustrate how open communication between these teams could result in valuable improvements, we present an example that we are implementing at the Northwell Regional Autopsy Service.
