Description

A clinical decision support alert recommending against the use of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin-receptor blockers (ARB) in nonpregnant women ages 15-50 years who did not have a documented reliable form of contraception was integrated into the electronic health record. We anticipate that this alert will reduce prescribing of this teratogenic medication subclass to this population. In addition, this study is expected to improve the accurate problem list documentation of various contraceptive methods.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: Participants will be able to see and discuss an example of how to use electronic clinical decision support tools to provide personalized treatment recommendations for a specific population. Participants will also learn how a clinical decision support tool may be used to improve problem list documentation.
