Description

We conducted a new time motion study in an oncology floor and included additional variables to investigate factors affecting nursing practice, such as staffing, patient acuity, nurses’ perceived workload, and their physiological response to stress, measured by Blood Pulse Wave (BPw). Our preliminary findings show that there was acceptability and feasibility of data collection with the various measures outlined above, as well as the triangulation of data sources to investigate nursing activities and stress.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: We present a time motion study to explore nursing activities with an innovative study design and approaches with multi-dimensional data capture. We also incorporate additional data sources to investigate nurses’ perceived workload, stress (measured by blood pulse wave), and their association with nursing activities. The attendee will learn our preliminary findings and the approaches of conducting a time motion study to explore nursing practice.
