Description

Direct secure messaging allows healthcare providers to send encrypted health information directly to known, trusted recipients. While simple in concept, how do you implement the technology in a large health system? What are the initial use cases? Can health information management department monitor all incoming messages? In 2017 we implemented direct messaging across 16 hospitals and more than 400 ambulatory sites. Come and hear our lessons learned.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: This is a proposal for an ignite-style talk. Attendees will learn about how we integrated a health information services provider (HISP) and direct secure messaging workflows into our ambulatory and inpatient electronic health record (EHR) systems across 16 hospitals and more than 400 outpatient sites.
