Description

Readiness, the ability of military forces to deploy and meet their occupational demands, is the core mission of the Military Health System. However, Air Force providers are ill-equipped to make these readiness determinations. This study created a decision-support RShiny application linking Air Force medical standards and occupations to ICD-10-CM codes and will validate it through a record review. Through linking the disparate lists of medical standards, this tool could decrease administrative time and improve readiness.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: With a focus on medical readiness, military health care seeks to optimize the human performance of active-duty service members. Attendees should walk away with an understanding of how the U.S. Air Force codifies ‘readiness’ and the methodology behind creating a readiness decision-support tool. With this knowledge, attendees should be able to draw potential corollaries to civilian healthcare practices focused on health optimization rather than disease management.
