Description

Active duty service members in the United States military experience high levels of chronic pain which can increase the likelihood of a prescription analgesic related adverse event. To address this, the Stratification Tool for Opioid Risk Mitigation (STORM) used in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) was validated and optimized for use in the active duty population. The VA STORM model offered good predictive capabilities, however the optimized STORM model had increased predictive ability.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: The poster will describe the role of the Stratification Tool for Opioid Risk Management (STORM) in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and it's effectiveness and optimization withing the VA. Additionally it will describe best practices for implementation in the military health system and its role in assisting soldiers transitioning into the VA system.
