Description

Presentation will share approaches to public health reporting and facilitation of data exchange with external partners by the Minnesota Department of Health. Immunization reporting to Minnesota Immunization Information Connection (MIIC) and electronic laboratory reporting to Minnesota Electronic Disease Surveillance System (MEDSS) will be highlighted. In 2017, HL7 standards-based reporting to MIIC and MEDSS was 85% and 34% respectively. Interoperability components of syntax/format standards, vocabulary/semantic standards and transport protocols will be emphasized, along with lessons learned.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: This presentation will share approaches to facilitate data exchange with external partners and promote interoperability in public health using immunization reporting and electronic laboratory reporting as exemplars. The attendee will gain an understanding of the message formats, codes and informatics tools used for reporting data to public health.
