Description

We developed a prototype CDS tool to assist healthcare providers during tobacco cessation interventions and want to share the lessons learned from building a rule-based system to process patient data and rules extracted from the Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence guideline, developing a user interface for providers to visualize results of the decision making process, comparing the recommendations from the tool with recommendations from tobacco treatment specialists, and planning the new version of the tool.

Describe the new knowledge and additional skills the participant will gain after attending your presentation.: Attendees will be able to identify and discuss the lessons learned and future directions in the development of a clinical decision support to support tobacco cessation interventions.
